My Personal Journey
This blog is written in as much of a neutral “third party” style is possible, but the reality of it is it is anything but… part personal online journal, part opportunity for me to explore some themes that appealed to me, part reference database of ideas and concepts that I find inspiring.
When I first got involved in my current project, a ‘startup+” with Taiwan investors, a existing US HQ and soon after a new European office, I found that we struggled to understand how we would work together.
It wasn’t like having one office, where you can have meetings, or collar someone over at the water cooler. The principles of working together on a project remain/ed the same – but the methodology was completely different.
This led to no small amount of head scratching, trial and error (more errors than Triumph…) and generally feeling out the do’s and don’ts, the why’s and wherefore’s?
Hence this blog.
Anonymity
You will notice that I go about my daily web life under the guise of an anonymous moniker. In today’s Web 2.0 era, this is often frowned upon by the Twiterati, but I have my reasons are trying to keep my identity somewhat under wraps.
Some people use anonymous alter-ego’s to allow themselves the freedom to get out there and lie. In my case I feel it’s more about allowing myself to be very honest.
While I am normally a huge advocate of transparency and honesty in my daily life, I do have a number of concerns about my Web identity, with specific regards to the fact that I have (to my great fortune…) to have a fairly high profile/ prestigious job, and I have a very unique Christian name.
Its that reason that I like to separate my work (in which I, fairly obviously, have to use my real name…) and my personal online identity. In either event it’s still me, the difference is that from time to time I want to say or explore things, that might not be entirely appropriate if my investors or suppliers were to read this. Tough call.
